Frequently Asked Questions
What is the process of filing a claim for hail damage with my insurance company?
This is a commonly asked question. To make things easier to understand for our customers, we have created a simple How-to Guide for filing a hail damage claim with your insurance company. That can be found here: Filing a hail damage claim.
Will my insurance premium go up if I file a claim for hail damage? No, they will not. Unlike collision damage, insurance companies are not permitted to increase your car insurance premium due to acts of nature.
Is there a difference between a Hail technician and a door ding technician? Absolutely. There are many quality hail technicians, and many quality door ding technicians, but very few technicians that specialize in both. At T&M PDR, we pride ourselves in having mastery of both skills at the highest level.
Do you charge for estimates? No, all of our estimates and quotes are provided free of charge.
Can you give me a quote/estimate over the phone if I send pictures? Absolutely. We are happy to provide quotes over the phone or via text. We have a video tutorial on how to best take a photo of the dent so we can accurately quote a repair price.
Can you still repair cars with ceramic coating or previous repairs? Absolutely, however these types of repairs do come with an additional cost that will vary depending on size/damage/area. The only thing we cannot repair is a panel that has previously had filler or bondo applied to it.
Will my insurance company pay you directly? This process varies by insurance company. often times the insurance company will pay us directly. However. sometimes they will send payment directly to you. If they send payment to you directly, you are then responsible for paying for the repair. After the repair is made, we do not release vehicles until payment is received.
What if the estimate/repair cost is more than my insurance company gave me? In this instance, we will need to request a supplement from your insurance company. You'll need to keep the initial check that your insurance company sent you as that will go towards the repair cost.
What is a combo repair? A combo repair is a common repair type when it comes to very large sized hail damage. Sometimes when a hail damaged vehicle has extremely large dents(think softball or grapefruit size) along with smaller dents(think dime to golf ball size) a combo repair can be performed. With a combo repair, we remove all the dents we can with PDR and then the remaining dents that cannot be repaired with PDR are repaired by our body shop partner.
Do you charge for car storage if the repair takes more than a day? No, we do not charge for vehicle storage while your vehicle is being repaired. After we notify you of completion, there is a 72 hour window to pick up your vehicle. Due to limited space during hail season, after the 72 hours has elapsed, if you have not picked up your vehicle we charge a $75/day vehicle storage fee.
Do you drill holes in the car to repair it? Generally we have a no drilling policy. If there is no other way to repair the dent without drilling a hole, we will contact you, at which point it will be at your discretion how you would like us to proceed. Any hole we make we will seal. We will never drill a hole without your express permission.
Are you a mobile company and do you do house calls? We do not do mobile repairs, all repairs must be performed at our facility. We do house calls for hail estimates, but this does come with a flat charge of $50.
Are you an insured facility? Yes. You can rest assured that we carry full coverage property and liability coverage that includes your vehicle while in our facility.
Do you have a referral program? Yes! For hail damage referrals, we pay 10% of the final quote for that vehicle's repair. We do not offer referrals for door ding repairs.
Do you offer military and first responder discounts? Yes, we offer a 15% discount to military and first responders that provide proper identification. We are only able to offer this for out-of-pocket repairs, we cannot offer this for insurance claim repairs.
Do you warranty your repairs? Yes. For hail damage repairs, we will fix any dent that we may have missed during the repair for a 72 hour period. Due to the cyclical nature of hail we cannot re-repair a panel that has been damaged by an additional hail event after the repair has been made, but if you notice something we missed, please bring your vehicle back and we will repair what we missed free of charge.
Can we make an arrangement where I do not have to pay my deductible? Unfortunately, per Texas law, we are unable to cover or waive your deductible.
How long does a repair typically take? For minor dents and dings, we can repair these while you wait, these typically take no longer than 15-20 minutes. For larger damage, we recommend dropping your vehicle off as these can take between 1-2 hours. For hail damage repairs, our typical repair time is between 3-10 days depending on the severity of the damage. For combination repairs with our partner body shop, the lead time will depend on the body shop's availability and backlog.
Do you touch up paint or buff out scuff/paint transfer? Minor scratchs and scuffs we can buff out as long as it is not through the clear coat. We do not paint at our facility but we can combo repair with our partner body shop.
